"JACOB ADAMS, MASON, BRICKLAYER


Jacob C. Adams, 86, of 1615 Rothsville Road, Lititz, died Monday at Moravian Manor after a 1-month illness.

Adams was a stonemason and bricklayer for Grant Smith and Sons, Farmersville.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, landing on Utah Beach. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

An avid sportsman and hunter, he was a member of Bear Mountain Hunting Camp, Cedar Run, Tioga County.

Born in Rothsville, he was the son of the late Chester N. and Elsie Conrad Adams.

His wife, Mary E. Mohler Adams, died in 1990.

Surviving are a daughter, Cyntra B., married to Howard Thompson of Lititz; two grandsons; and a brother, Herbert of Arvada, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Hirneisen."
