Richard A. Powell Jr., age 45, of Alton, died on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 11, 1956, in Alton, the son of the late Richard and Eileen Andrew Powell Sr.

He married Kelly Tomblingson of Edwardsville on March 13, 1987. She survives.

Also surviving is a daughter: Alicia Powell of Alton; a step-daughter: Melissa Chaney of Eustis, Fla.; a step-son: Jason Chaney of Eustis, Fla.; four sisters: Debra Vowels and husband, James of Fosterburg, Vicki Reeder and husband, Jeff of Alton, Cheryl Kenshallo and husband, Ronnie of Branson, Mo., and Jennifer Rawlings and husband, James of Wood River; nine nieces and nephews; four great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, and from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Bruce officiating.

Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to Alicia Powell in care of Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
