Pioneer DePere Resident is Dead
DE PERE With the death of James E Loper, aged 69 at St Vincent's hospital at 2:30 oclock this morning another old resident of De Pere passed away. The deceased having lived in DePere for over half a century. Mr Loper was born in the town of Russia (Rushford) in Winnebago County Wisconsin Dec 6 1854 (death certificate states Nov 6 as does Bible) He was well known in this vicinity having worked at the carpenter trade for many years. For some time he has been suffering from a cancer and it was this disease which caused his death. He is survived by one sister Mrs Bird Carpenter of De Pere and two brothers CV Loper of DePere and Joseph of Oshkosh. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Kuehl Funeral parlors, the Rev S Groenfeldt officiating. Interment was at Greenwood cemetery.
