Born in Asheville, N.C., he was the son of the late Joel and Viola Talley Abercrombie.
Mr. Abercrombie was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Head Abercrombie of the home; a daughter, Wanda A. Hyatt and her husband Robert; three sons, Grady F. Abercrombie, Jr., Daniel R. Abercrombie and his wife Joyce, and Roger K. Abercrombie and his wife Sylvia; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Jerome and Rudolph Abercrombie.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home.
