He was the son of Thomas J. Reeve and Rebecca Earnest Reeve.
On April 20, 1865 as Felix A. Reeve, he married Wilhelmina D. Maynard at Knox, Tennessee.
They were the parents of eight children.

Col. Felix Reeve, Civil War Veteran, Dies
Colonel Felix A. Reeve, who has been Assistant Solicitor of the Treasury since the administration of Cleveland, died yesterday at his home, 1626 19th Street Northwest, at the age of eighty-four years. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Colonel Reeve was in charge of a Civil War regiment recruited by him with the permission of President Lincoln from East Tennessee. He fought with the Union armies throughout the Civil War. After the war he returned to Knoxville, Tennessee, the place of his former studies in law, where he took up the practice of law. He moved to Washington in 1869, following his marriage to Miss Wilhelmina Donelson Maynard [daughter of Horace Maynard]. President Cleveland appointed him Solicitor of the Treasury, later making him Assistant Solicitor, which position he held until his death. Colonel Reeve had been absent from his duties since nearly a year ago, when he broke his leg in a fall in his office.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at St. Matthew's Church. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery with full military ceremonies.
