Born at 133 Oswald Rd, Uxbridge, Hayes, Middlesex, England.

Grew up in Southall, Middlesex, England.

Lilian May and her twin sister, Rose Eliza, were born in March 1927, at home with a midwife. The miracle was that they both lived! Rose was born on March 16, and May was born on March 18th! They were 2 pounds, and 2.5 pounds, respectively. May said when her mum told the story, she would talk about going to the Singer store and buying doll's clothes for her two tiny twins to wear! The midwife made an incubator out of a dresser drawer and a lamp, to help keep the babies warm.

May grew up during the second World War. She told many stories of bombs, the horrifying sound of whistling bombs as they dropped - with the whistling stopping before they hit; and of friends and chums who died. Her friend Vi (Violet) stepped into the shelter of a covered storefront to wait out the bombing one day, but died when a bomb fell directly on the store...... She spoke of a little boy that she babysat, that was put on a ship to Australia - a ship full of little children being sent away to keep them safe from the war - but a Nazi U-boat sank it.... She told how her father, who had been a Scots Guard in his single days (the guards in red uniforms and tall fur hats), took up the duties of Air Raid Warden for their neighborhood. She told of the young men she met that never came back, and the friendships made then that were strong bonds until her death.

May and her twin joined the WRENS when they turned 18 in March, 1945. After the war, May joined the TA (Territorial Army - which is like the National Guard in America.) She became a drill sargeant, winning awards for her crack drill team, and even being inspected by the young queen, Elizabeth II.

May came to America in Sept 1963. She had applied for a job listed in "The Lady", for a nanny on a Wyoming ranch. For a year, she worked for the Butler family, on their ranch at Parkman, Wyoming. Then, she met a tall, handsome Wyoming cowboy, and fell in love! She and Leonard Davis were married October 22, 1964, in Thermopolis, WY. The only black spot on that wonderful year, was her mum's death in England.

She was soon busy with a daughter, Rose Lilian, named after her twin sister and her mum. While her husband did ranch work, or attended schools in Iowa and Nebraska, she made a home for her little family.

In 1970, they returned to the Sheridan, Wyoming area, and there she lived the rest of her life. Never one to back down from adventure, she was fearless in going somewhere new, or learning a new job! In 1986, after her only child married and moved away from Sheridan, she fulfilled a dream of going to Israel, to see the places where her Lord lived, walked, taught, died and rose again.

A caregiver at her very heart, she began taking care of families; terminally-ill patients and their families; and older ladies needing a cook/housekeeper/caregiver. She touched so many lives, gave so much love, and worked so hard. She was taken from earth by pancreatic cancer, and carried to heaven on the voices of her friends singing around her hospital bed.

A beautiful woman, a loving Mother and Nanna, an adventurous, joyful spirit, and a child of the King. Mother, I look forward to hear you singing in Heaven, when I get there. You're missed more each day that goes by.

Your 'ever-lovin' daughter, Rose
