Kathryn E. Record, 89, Chanute, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas.
Kathryn was born in Humboldt, Kansas on February 25, 1921, the daughter of Harold C. and Maude Lena "Dena" (Rauhoff) Piatt.
She attended school in Humboldt.
She was united in marriage to Charles J. Record on June 21, 1937 in Iola, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1982.
They made their home in Chanute.
Kathryn was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
As a young mother she was active in the church, teaching Sunday School among other volunteer work. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She loved baseball and challenging her mind with puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. She was an avid reader.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon N. Alfonso of Disney, OK, Charlene K. Sneed of Pryor, OK, and Vicki Umbarger and husband Keith of Chanute, KS; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one brother, one sister, one half-brother, and two half-sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Burial will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, rural Humboldt, Kansas.
Memorials in her name may be made to the First Baptist Church, Cherry Street Youth Center, or the Fire Escape Coffeehouse and may be left with the funeral home.
