Former Hulbert, MI, resident, Dorothy D. Laetz, 88, died Wednesday morning March 23, 2010 at the Holland Home in Grand Rapids, MI.
Born Dorothy Burkett May 19, 1921 in Hulbert, daughter of the late Sol Burkett and Mabel (Aldridge) Burkett, Dorothy resided in Hulbert for several years and was a devoted homemaker raising her family.
Following the death of her first husband Wilbur M. Smith in 1971, Dorothy Smith moved downstate and was employed at Hammill Manufacturing Seat Belt Factory in Imlay City. Dorothy has been a resident of Grand Rapids for the past ten years and was an avid plant and flower enthusiast and animal lover.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Dorothy Laetz was preceded in death by her second husband George Laetz in 1982; daughter Shirley Farmer; siblings Phyllis Ozark, Raymond Burkett and Stella Leggitt.
Survivors included her children Vera (Dale) Miedema of Grand Rapids, Glenn (Mariann) Smith of Burton and Faye (Laurance) Beckert of Tuscon, AZ; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; siblings Donald Burkett of Hulbert and Theo Clegg of Sault Ste. Marie.
