Harold Leslie Davis Sr., 80, of Ashland, died Tuesday, April 5,following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 22, 1924, at Meally, he wasa son of the late George W. and Verlie Fitzpatrick Davis.

He was a W.W.II veteran 1st class boatman's mate with the 58th Task force from 1943 to 1946, serving on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Hornet, the most decorated ship in the South Pacific.

He also retired after 30 years as an A-1 iron pourer with Armco Steel's Ashland Foundry.

He was also preceded in death by former wife, Barbara Rodman Davis; and a brother, Howard Davis.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin Leslie Underwood of Paintsville;a son, Harold Leslie Davis, Jr., of Ashland; three sisters, Beatrice Borders, Betty Rice, and Christina Davis, all of Paintsville; abrother, George W. Davis, Jr. of Ashland; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of services at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Caniff Funeral Home, Westwood, with Rev. Kenneth Klaiber officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Paintsville,under direction of Caniff Funeral Home
