Helen L. Taraboletti, 88, of Canton, IL passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 2:30 am at Red Oak Estates Assisted Living in Canton. She was born August 30, 1921 in Canton, IL the daughter of Arthur R. and Lucy (Betts) Johnson. She married Peter Taraboletti June 5, 1947 in Canton. He survives along with two children, Charles (Rhonda) Taraboletti of Bartlesville, OK and Lucy Johns of Omaha, NE; and three grandchildren, Matthew Johns of Jersey City, NJ, Aaron (Cassandra) Taraboletti of Bartonville, and Allison Johns of Des Moines, IA. She graduated from Canton High School in 1939 and then from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She then received her B.S. in Nursing from Bradley University in Peoria in 1971. She worked for five years as a nurse for the Fulton County Health Department, three years at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and taught one year at Graham Hospital School of Nursing. Helen was a past board member of the Christian Service Program in Canton in which she was instrumental in forming. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Canton, the Methodist Hospital Alumni Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. Services will be Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:00 am at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with Rev. Bob Loffer officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15th from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.
