August (Augie) Albert Aschbrenner was born on Sept 28, 1913 near Langdon, ND to Herman Fredrich Emil Aschbrenner (May 12, 1872 - Feb 17, 1962) and Josephine Marie Rosenkranz Aschbrenner (Aug 26, 1887 - Nov 19, 1974). He was part of the CCC program in 1935. He married Ruth C Bertelson in March of 1939. Augie and Ruth (Bertie) had 3 girls and 2 boys. One of the girls, Mary Margaret died at birth in 1946 and is buried in Oelwein, Iowa. Augie's wife suffered a stroke and passed away 1 day before her 85th birthday. Augie had worked for the Chicago Great Western RR and the Chicago North Western RR prior to retirement.

He and Ruth enjoyed traveling, including Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and the entire US.

He passed away in Canon City, CO, while living with his grandaughter Kristina Berger and her family.
