Mike graduated from State College High School and in 1934 he graduated from Penn State with a degree in education. He was a businessman associated with Shoemaker Brothers of State College.
On Oct. 21, 1939, on a Saturday afternoon, Mike married Sarah Katherine "Kate" Koch. They were married at the Lutheran parsonage at Saxton by Rev. John English, former pastor of the Pine Frove Mills charge where Mike and Kate lived. They were married over 65 years. They had no children of their own but they were dearly loved by their nieces and nephews.
Mike died at age 95 while at the Fairways at Brookline Village. His memorial service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Steven C. Claycomb and Robert L. Rohrbaugh officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Mills Cemetery.
