Sherman R. Whiteman, died at Clinton General Hospital, Nov. 24. Funeral Services were held at Holden, Nov. 26, with the Rev. Clyde Miller (Warrensburg) officiating. Grandsons were pallbearers: Dale Talley, Russell Arwood, Larry Arwood, Leon Whiteman, Glen Thomason, and Tom Hensley. Burial was in the Bear Creek Cemetery. Sherman Russell Whiteman son of Abe and Sarah Jane Nay Whiteman, born Sept. 25, 1879 at Holden. He was a farmer, and spent his entire life in the Holden area with the exception of two years spent in Texas. He was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. On March 3, 1909, he married Frances E. Bryson and ten children were born to them. Whiteman died in 1958 and Claude died in December of 1963. Survivors are three sons, Forrest, of Butler, Marvin, Kingsville, and William of Holden; six daughters, W. A. (Lucille) Arwood, Warrensburg, Mrs. Albert (Cora) Thomason, Chilhowee; Mrs. Charles (Dollie) Lyman, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Turpin, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Olson, Mrs. Russell (Opal) Talley, Holden; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
