Evelyn M. Yeager Deppen, 88, of 937 Reagan Street, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2008, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.

She was born February 23, 1920, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late James and Florence (Shomper) Yeager.

On March 1, 1947, Evelyn married Myrle Deppen, who survives.

She was a 1938 graduate of Sunbury High School and went on to train as a nurse.

Evelyn was formerly employed by the Westinghouse Company and the Champ Hat Factory, both of Sunbury.

She was a member of Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church, Sunbury.

Evelyn served as a volunteer at Sunbury Community Hospital and donated to many charitable causes.

She was a devoted housewife and enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening.

Evelyn was preceded in death by one son: Merle; two brothers: Charles and James; and, one sister: Marjorie Furman.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Gary Frederick of Hawaii, Becky and Howard Miller of Port Matilda and Susan and Mark Comly of Maryland; ten grandchildren: Amie, James, Angela, Kimberly, Devon, Beth, Doug, John, Adrian, and Avalon; ten great-grandchildren; and, one sister: Romaine Herrold of Lewisburg.
