Notice of death: Asheville Citizen – J.J. Gudger, one of the best know residents of Western North Carolina, died at his home on Sandy Mush, Madison County, this morning at 2 o’clock. He had been in poor health for several weeks and his death was hastened by a shock he received from jumping off a porch to stop a runaway horse two weeks ago. He was 74 years old, and the father of Hon. H.A. Gudger, J.M. Gudger of Marshall, and Mrs. W.W. Rollins of Asheville.
