On January 20, 1936, Myrtle was married to Manford Sanders and moved to Villisca. After WWII started, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they lived four years before moving to Villisca to live the rest of their lives.
Myrtle was a member of the Villisca Methodist Church as well as the Eagles and worked for several years at Honeyman Drug Store in Villisca. Her interests included sewing and working in her garden.
Surviving Myrtle are her daughter Janet Olenius (Jim), granddaughter Jennifer Olenius Robberts (Jeremy), great grandchildren D. J., Brett, and Jenna Robberts and several nieces. Preceding Myrtle in death were her husband Manford, grandson Justin Olenius and brothers, Howard, Everett and Harold Richards.
Private services were held on Friday, June 3, 2016. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, Montgomery County, Iowa.
