Buried: Dolgeville Cemetery, Herkimer County, New York
Note: "Luther Darling fought in the Civil War, engaging in the battles of Antietam, West Point, Fredericksburg, Petersburg, and the siege of Yorktown. He enlisted December 21, 1863 in Company F of the 16th Heavy Artillery."
Second note: "He initially enlisted on 30 May 1861 in the town of Salisbury, New York into the 34th New York (you can see that on his tombstone) He served from 15 June 1861 until he was discharged with his company (Co. C) in Albany on 30 June 1863.
Thus, he could not have been in the battle of Antietam if he didn't enlist until 1863, as that battle was fought on 17
September 1862. The battle at Fredericksburg was in December 1862."
