This lady was my grandmother. Unfortunately, she passed before I was born, so I don't know much about her. However, I do know she was a doting mother to my father, Charles F. Gettig. I've been told stories of how she was always baking his favorites, pressing his shirts and caring for him in every way.

She passed from a heart attack and was sadly missed.

She and my grandfather, William E. Gettig, didn't have much. They lived a relatively poor existence. After my dad married my mom, Elaine June Lucas, and they began to make good money, they helped them out as much as possible. I remember a story about mom and dad buying them a toaster. Gram was so amazed by it! I think of how amazed she would have been had she lived to see a microwave.

Even though I never knew her, I'm grateful for the stories that my dad told me about her. I love you gram!
