Ralph Leon Livengood was born Dec. 25, 1922 in Cushing, OK, son of Christopher Nicholas Livengood and Edith Lyle Priest. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and participated in ROTC in high school, joining the Air Force and serving as a weather man in New Guinea during World War II. He graduated from George Washington University and married Katheryn Ann Livesay in Independence, Missouri in 1949. He worked for Mobil Oil for over 30 years and retired in Dallas, Texas in 1982. He was an avid gardener, a member of the Dallas Mens Garden Club and the Dallas Arboretum, and a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ church.
