Wichita - Walter W. "Brick Wakefield, 72, of WIchita, formerly of Douglass, KS, died March 12, 1999 at his home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Douglass Cemetery. Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wakefield was born June 22, 1926 in Douglass to Cecil and Eva (Woods) Wakefield. He graduated from Wichita State Univeristy and was a member of Alpha Gamma Gamma Fraternity.

On March 23, 1975, he married Phyllis R. Rotolo in Denver, CO.

A former reisdent of Douglass and Castle Rock, CO, he was a retired geologist and rancher.

He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a charter member of the International Petroleum Association and a Kansas Aviation Museum volunteer.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Wakefield, Wichita, KS; four sons, Walter Wakefield, Atlanta, and John Wakefield, Gray Wakefield and James Wakefield all of Denver, CO.; two daughters, Georgia Gilliom, Littleton, CO, and Herta Wakefield, Castle Valley, Utah; two sisters, Cecile McLaughlin and Mildred Lee, both of Wichita; and nine grandchildren.
