Married Judy Ann Hoaney in Sharp Co., AR, April 13, 1889.

According to the History of the Evening Shade (Arkansas) United Methodist Church, A. Esau was appointed minister on February 6, 1913. He had joined the conference in 1897, and was dismissed in 1900. "After that time he served a number of churches as a local preacher. Some of the churches were Desha Ct. 1911, Ash Flat Ct. 1909, Smithville Ct. 1910, Alicia Ct. 1900, Salem Ct. 1911 and Cave City 1919. He was raised near Evening Shade."

OBITUARY:
Rev. A. E. Horton, age 92, passed away at his home at Burkburnett, Texas, Sunday. He was born in Mt. Grove, MO. and was a Baptist minister. His membership was with the Evening Shade Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Shelby Horton of West Plains, MO, Pink Horton of Kansas City, MO, and Clarence Horton of Elmore City, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Whiteside of Burkburnett, Texas and Mrs. Ola Crow of Cave City; 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The service will be in the Evening Shade Baptist Church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Shelby Bittle of Evening Shade will officiate. Burial will be in the Campground Cemetery by Crouch Funeral Home.
