Sarah Ellen Hallock, was born Dec.15,1853, near the present home of Orrie Woolridge. She was next to the oldest of six children born to Edward and Jenette Gillet Hallock, her brother Charles, at one time pastor of our church, being the oldest. May 8, 1877, she and Joseph D. Cook were married by Rev. Moses Wells. He passed away April 29, 1894, while pastor of our church.
Mrs. Cook was a faithful member of our church and was an active worker until prevented by the infirmities of age, but she retained her interest in that, a well as national and local affairs until the last. Although not able to leave her home for several years, she was around the house until five weeks ago. She was released from her suffering at 3 a.m. January 27. During the years she was shut in her many friends have often called on her, enjoying conversing with her.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maude E. Crandell, who lived with her; four nieces, Mrs. Pearl (Curtiss) Lewis of Bernhards Bay; Mrs. Viola (Curtiss) Gring, of Lauderdale, Pa., Mrs. Bessie (Dodge) Stansforth and Mrs. Anne (Putman) Green of Stockbridge
