During Charley's at A&M , he met, and in November 194, married Naomi Elizabeth Crain. After active duty, they returned to Madison County. n Charley worked as a carpenter with his family and then continued serving as Madison County Clerk for a number of years. Following his years as county clerk, he owned and operated a service station in Madisonville until his retirement. Along with other jobs, he also ran a small farm with a herd of beef cattle. And of course, he was always an Aggie fan, listening intently to the football games on his old kitchen radio and later watching all the games on TV. Charley was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville during his adult life. As long as his health permitted , he shared his blessings by providing many of his friends and those less fortunate with fresh fruits, vegetables and pecans from his garden.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers Ethel and Ory , sister Flora Kyle Caldwell and son Lawrence. He is survived by sons Roy and wife Connie Kyle, Kirby and wife Glenda Kyle, grandchildren Jeff and wife Amy Kyle, Lauri and husband John Berka; Great-grandchildren Mercy, Alyssa, Ethan, and Jordan Kyle and Joshua Berka; sister Dorothy Kyle Wilson, and brother-in-law Aaron Crain as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
