Charles Dufran was the son of Henry Dufrain/Dufresne and Sophie Boisvert/Greenwood, natives of Canada, being Canadian French. (The spelling of the surnames continued to change through generations) He was the brother to Edward Carry Dufrin of Garden City Kansas, Henry Dufrain, Jr. of Hartington Nebraska and Louis Jerry Dufrain of Miltonvale Kansas. Charles married Leona Cyr, daughter of Zephyren Cyr and Philomene Bourgeois, 1 Jan 1879 in Cloud County, Kansas. After they were married they lived in Colfax, Cloud County, Kansas. They left Kansas in 1890 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma where they lived the remainder of their lives.

He was a retired farmer when he passed away. He died at his home - 602 East Comanche Street in Norman, Oklahoma. He died of a heart ailment.

Surviving was his wife Leona plus two sons and two daughters; Joseph Dufran, John Napolean Dufran, Lillie Mears and Cenia Tarkington.
