Railroad man taken by death. A. Roy Beach Succumbs at hospital.
A. Roy Beach, 50, 608 East Third street, Newport, assistant freight agent of the L. & N. Railroad at Latonia, Ky., died early Friday in Speers Memorial Hospital, Daton, Ky., following several weeks' illness. He became ill while in his office at Latonia on July 4.
He was born in Corinth, Ky., but had lived in the vicinity of Greater Cincinnati for the past thirty-five years and was well known. Beach was a member of the Covington Eagles, Cincinnati Traffic Club and the Cincinnati Railway Club.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Loretta Keegan Beach; three daughters, Miss Frances Beach, Mrs. Rosella Adkins and Mrs. Nellie Holiday, all of Rosedale, Ky.; two brothers, Glenn Beach, Cynthiana, O., and Forest Beach, Philadelphia, Pa.; his mother, Mrs. A. J. Chipman, Williamstown, Ky., and one sister, Mrs. Anthony Prues, Ft. Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held Monday afternoon at the funeral home of Vonderhaar & Stetter, Third and Overton streets, Newport, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, Ky.
Our deepest sympathy extended to Mrs. Loretta Keegan wife of A. R. Beach, and to his children and mother, who so tenderly watched by his bedside during the days of suffering before his death on July 20 at Speers Memorial Hospital. Mr. Beach will long be remembered by his L. & N. friends for his patience, kindness and understanding to those in his employ. Among the pallbearers at his funeral were Agent W. E. Ross, Cashier M. F. Ling, and Chief Clerk J. B. Nuckols from this office.

Entered service December 1, 1906, as waybill clerk, West End Station, Cincinnati; advanced to rate clerk, chief clerk and to agent at West End Station in 1911. In January, 1927, appointed assistant agent, East End Station, then chief clerk and in June, 1933, made assistant agent Latonia. Survived by his wife and three children. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Newport, Ky., July 23.
From stories told to me by my grandmother, Nellie Christine Beach and Great Aunt, Rosella Beach Adkins my grandfather was not formally educated. He was self taught and an avid reader. He was the freight agent until the depression hit and was demoted to assistant freight agent so no one would lose their positions.
He and Liddie met at a barn dance in Harrison County.
