He was the son of Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Dollar and Francis E. "Fanny" Vaughn
He married Sarah Jane Clinton September 16, 1905 in Perry County, Arkansas. He was twenty-two years old and Sarah was Fourteen.
They were the parents Johnnie, Hershel, Ethel, Rose, Madeline and Earnest.

Dave Dollar aged 73 of 6634 West Twelve Street,Little Rock, died Friday at his home. He was a retired farmer and was a member of thirteenth Street Pentecostal Church of God of North Little Rock. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Hershel, Johnnie and Ernest Dollar of Little Rock, two daughters, Mrs Ray Garner of Little Rock and Mrs. Harvey Brown of North Little Rock; a sister, Mrs Polly McMann of Donaldson; 18 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mabelvale Misionary Baptist Church by Rev. Johnnie King. Burial will be at Martin Cemetery by Wilson Funeral Service of England.
