Mae E. Adams, 83, Shoemakersville, died Jan. 22, 2009, at 9:45 p.m. in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township, where she had been a resident since March 2005.
She was the wife of Quentin C. Adams. They were married Jan. 31, 1948, and would have celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Centerport, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Amelia (Wagner) Lengel.
She was a 1942 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School.
Mae worked many years as a sewing machine operator for Cinderella Knitting Mill, Leesport, retiring in 1988. She first worked more than 20 years for Dutch Knitting Mill in Hamburg.
She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Township.
She was a member of Union Fire Company of Hamburg and Beneficial Association and Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
In addition to her husband, Mae is survived by two sons, Dale A. Adams, companion of Ruth A. (Yeager) Breininger, Windsor Township; and Dean A. Adams, Shoemakersville.
There also are two granddaughters, Jennifer S. Bensinger and Jodi A. Parent; and five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Brooke, Luke, Joseph and Nathan.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg (off-street parking in rear) with the Rev. Paul E. Buzzard officiating. Burial will be in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Township. Viewing will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
