The family moved to a ranch in Havre, Hill, MT.
Her mother, Jenny, died of exhaustion on 13Dec1915 after 50 hrs of labor. The boy was malformed and Jenny could not deliver him. Willard made a coffin and Jenny was buried on the ranch.
Willard's sister, Hannah Leona Campbell, moved in to take care of the household.

Elsie's father, Willard Claude Campbell, was a carpenter and moved the family around much of Oregon.
The family & Hannah were living in Moro, Sherman, OR during the 1920 US Census.

Elsie, Lois, & Faye were sent to a boarding house/school before Willard married his 2nd wife, Mary Ellen "Mollie" Wilson Girt Campbell and she and her 2 daughters, Vivian & ??, moved in (Between 1920 & 1930).

Elsie moved back to Havre, Hill, MT as a teenager. She worked as a ranch hand on her uncle George Raymond Campbell's ranch. She loved riding her horse. She was still living with George during the 1930 US Census.
