While Living in Wichita, Karen was active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, P.E.O. (a women's philanthropic organization) and Bible Study Fellowship in addition to being actively involved with her church and in activities at her sons' schools. After moving to Kansas City she remained active in P.E.O. and Bible Study Fellowship. She loved to travel, and together with her husband Jim visited 49 US states, Canada and Mexico, three countries in South America and 10 countries in Europe. In raising her two sons she became a very knowledgeable and avid fan of sports, especially the Kansas Jayhawks.
Karen dedicated her life to Christ, and to study of the Bible and teaching the Bible to young children as a teaching leader at Bible Study Fellowship. She served as a teaching leader for 26 years, helping many children through her efforts, and will always be remembered for her love of children and her very strong faith. Karen touched many other lives as well, and will also be remembered as a very loving and caring person who had nothing but good things to say about others.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Saundra Friend. She is survived by her husband, her two sons, her daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Elliott and Isaac, all of Kansas City, two sisters, Janice Hubbard of Pampa, Texas and Linda McCollough of Florissant, Colorado and her brother James Frazier of Houston, Texas.
