Emil W. Hanley, former mayor of Rensselaer, dies
Rensselaer, Ind. -- Services for Emil W. Hanley, 86, mayor of this northwest Indiana city from 1950 to 1963, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Steinke Funeral Home here.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mr. Hanley, who died Tuesday at home, was a pharmacist from 1920 to 1950. He was a former Republican national committeeman.
A graduate of Purdue University, Mr. Hanley was a World War I Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a lifelong Rensselaer resident.
He also was a member of the Rensselaer Presbyterian Church, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Sigma Chi fraternity, Purdue Alumni Association, 40 and 8 Club, Prairie Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Order of Eastern Star and Order of High Priests.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Ruhmann.
