Ruth Lillian HOEKSTRA was the daughter of John Martin HOEKSTRA and Lillian Fern "Mary" STRONG. She was the eldest of three girls; her younger sisters were Hope Mildred and Mary Louise Hoekstra.
Ruth was first married to my grandfather, William VALK, in 1943. She later married Adrian "Ed" DeVRIES in 1947.
She was a mother of three, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of six. She loved letter-writing, cats, gardening, bright colors, reading mystery books and the Bible, and playing the piano and organ.
