Nancy Lillard Bryan was a sister to Elizabeth Lillard Yates. All three of the Bryan graves were originally buried in Mason County, WV(Va.) and reinterned in the Yates Family Cemetery in the early 1900's by their grandson, William J. Bryan, thus reuniting the sisters. William Jennings Bryan was the Democratic nominee for President in 1896, 1900, and 1908, but he was never elected.
It is not known why two different dates are inscribed on this stone for the year Nancy L. Bryan died. Her husband's tombstone is also inscribed in a similar manner.
