Lyle Ernest Vogt, passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 49.
He was born to Jay and Dorothy Vogt and raised in Sunny Slope, near Caldwell, Idaho living and working with his family at Falen Fruit Ranch. Lyle attended Vallivue High School and enjoyed playing football and basketball where his 6' 4" large frame was a valuable asset. Lyle attended Idaho State University for two years, specializing in auto mechanics making this his career for the next thirty plus years. In 1990 he moved to Elko, where he worked at Big O Tires for three years. Following this he worked at Gallagher Ford, for the past sixteen years. Lyle loved spending time outdoors searching and collecting historic western artifacts. Auto racing was his passion. He worked for the Over the Hill Gang pit crew off and on for six years as the crew chief. He was an avid NASCAR fan attending Daytona and Talladega Races.
Lyle is survived by his two brothers Michael (MJ) Vogt of Caldwell, Idaho; Dan (Ann)Vogt of Twin Falls, Idaho; one nephew Jayson (Emilie) Vogt of Portland, Oregon; one niece Erika Vogt of Newport Beach, California; and numerous cousins, aunts, along with his co-worker and best friend Jim Arment.
Memorial service to honor Lyle's life will be held August 20, 2010 at Deer Flat Free Methodist Church in Caldwell, Idaho at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lyle Vogt Memorial Athletic Fund at Vallivue High School, Caldwell Idaho
