McKee

James Shaw, foreman of the Hartman stone quarries located at Point View, had the ring finger of his right hand badly injured last Wednesday. Mr. Shaw was working about his car prior to putting it away for the night and in some manner his hand came in contact with the fan and the ring finger was nearly torn off. A surgical operation was performed at the Altoona hospital in the hope of saving the finger. Mr. Shaw is able to be at his work.

JAMES A. SHAW

Retired farmer and Ganister quarry foreman, died Monday evening at 6.15 o'clock at his home at 622 Locust street, Roaring Spring, following a lengthy illness. He was a son of Alexander and Matilda [Hannah - ed.] (Stiffler) Shaw and was born at Puzzletown June 30, 1867. Early in life he went to McKee where he spent the remainder of his life until recently when he went to Roaring Spring to reside. He was united in marriage with Rebecca E. Dibert in 1890. She survives with these children: Mrs. C.A. Feather of McKee, Mrs. Charles Helsel of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Thomas Hileman of Altoona, Harry E. Shaw, Harold O. Shaw and Dean F. Shaw, all of McKee, and thirty-two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Mrs. Dessa Butler Reffner and Mrs. Laura Delozier, are deceased. Also surviving are these brothers: Wilson of Dry Run, Miles and Charles of Newry, Edward of East Freedom and Lewis of Duncansville, R.D. Mr. Shaw was a member of the United Brethren church. He operated the extensive farms of the late Jesse L. Hartman at McKee and for many years was foreman of the Hartman Ganister quarries both at McKee and Point View. Friends will be received at the home.
