OBITUARY from Port Jefferson Echo - Thursday July 10, 1930:
CAPT. Truman Darling
Friends were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Capt. Truman Darling which occurred at the Bay Shore hospital on Saturday evening following an operation. He was 67 years of age. He was a seafaring man for a number of years but for the past few years had been employed in the shipyard at Huntington. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at his late home, Rev. Chas. Williams of the Methodist church officiating.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters - Mrs. Edward Baldwin of Jamaica and Mrs. Homer Hawkins of Stony Brook, also seven sons: Fred, Selah, Russell, Ralph, Benji, Arthur, and Lawrence.

Truman N. was the son of Ebenezer Darling and Mary Melissa Howell; brother of Henry C., Caroline, Selah H., David B., Ebenezer, Amos P., Lydia, Mary E., Winfield, and Oliver.
He married Julia Ivins Wheeler on January 10, 1885 at Stony Brook, New York. Daughters were Caroline N. - married to Edward Baldwin and Julia I. - married to Homer Hawkins. Sons are listed above.
