FUNERAL SERVICES FOR DR. S. D. DAVIS, WHO DIED OF HEART ATTACK, SET FOR FRIDAY.
Funeral services for Dr. Shelah D. Davis, 62, who died suddenly of a heart attack last night, will be held
Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Rev. A. J. Morgan and the Rev. Dow A. Ensor, officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
Dr. Davis was stricken with the fatal attack while talking with a group of friends at a service station on Broad Street one block from his home about 7 o'clock Wednesday night.
He was a native of Putnam county and was the son of Capt. W. G. Davis, a Confederate officer, and Caroline Stover Davis. He graduated from the University of the South in 1900 and practiced medicine, chiefly in Putnam and White counties for 40 years, He lived in Nashville and practiced medicine there for 15 years, but returned to Cookeville six years ago.
Was Cookeville Postmaster:
He served as postmaster at Cookeville from 1910 to 1914.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eunie Haynes Davis; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Davis Thrasher, and a grandson, William Shelah Thrasher, of Nashville, and a sister, Mrs. A. R. Austin of near Cookeville.
