Funeral services for H.C. Abshire, well-known Decatur contractor, will be conducted from Brown's chapel by Rufus Underwood Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in city cemetery.
Mr. Abshire died at Decatur General Hospital Monday night. He had been taken to the hospital only a few hours before his death.
The contractor had been in business in Decatur for 50 years and built many of the buildings in this city which have become landmarks. He had been prominent in business circles here for a number of years.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Tom Ralston, Decatur and Mrs. Cora Getchell, Montgomery; one niece, Mrs. Douglas Hall, Atlanta; and a number of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Robert Nelson, Carl Doss, Hubert Sandusky, Charlie Clark, O.N. Troup and Louie Namie.
