Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion attended the funeral in a body. Claude E. Phillips was a son of Thomas J. and Hannah Phillips. He was born in Scotland county, Missouri, April 13 1912. He was a soldier in the United States Army, and lost his life in battle in Belgium, December 17, 1944.
He has four brothers, Vernie of Greensburg, Ambros of Monmouth, Ill; Wade of California and Mallie of Rutledge; one sister, Mrs. Lela Stone of Baring.
His body, after resting in a Government cemetery in Belgium was brought to the U.S. to find its final resting place in the land that he loved and for which he died.
