Ivan Daniel King died on August 18, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born September 10, 1927 in Willamina, OR to Hazel and Eugene King, the third of five children and grew up in the Smith River area of southern Oregon. He twice served in the Marines from 1945 to 1946 and again from 1949 to 1953. After marrying and starting a family, he purchased a hundred and thirty acres from his in-laws on Elk Creek road near Doty, WA where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was a board member of the Doty Pentecostal Church of God beginning in 1955 until his death. He retired from Weyerhauser in 1990.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly (Lusk) King, his children: Eric and Betty King of Mt. Vernon, WA, Bethany and Bruce Reid, Edmonds, WA, Kathy and Buck Staab of Lewiston, ID and Sharyl and Ron Quinn of Doty, WA. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ring of Roseburg, OR, brother Jerry King of Redmond, OR, and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom were very fond of their "Poppa." He is preceded in death by his brothers Frank and Jim, son Matthew King, grandson Dustin King, and one great-grandson.
Ivan loved his family, the northwest woods, his farm and his church.
