Friends Honor the Memory of Mrs. Sam Stephenson

Great Falls, May 8--Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the family home, 727 Fourth avenue north, for Mrs. Sam Stephenson who passed away Friday in a Minneapolis sanitarium. Burial was in Highland cemetery.

Accompanied by her husband, her son, Jack, who is a student at Yale university, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Nelson, the body of Mrs. Stephenson arrived Tuesday morning from the east. Sam Stephenson, Jr., the youngest son. arrived Sunday from Missoula where he is attending the University of Montana. Nelson Hall, a son of a previous marriage, was unable to come to Great Falls for the funeral, but was with the family in Minneapolis.

Present at the funeral were a group of prominent businessmen of Montana, associates and intimate friends of the Stephenson family.

Mrs. Stephenson was one of the city's most popular matrons and had been socially prominent here since coming to Great Falls in 1903 from Stillwater, Minn., to make a home for her brother, Oscar Nelson, then manager of the Nelson-Jenks coal mines at Sand Coulee. Her marriage to Mr. Stephenson took place in Stillwater, Minn., in 1906.

For several years Mrs. Stephenson had been suffering with a heart ailment which became acute during these last three years. During much of this time she was forced to remain in bed. Mrs. Stephenson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John G. Nelson of Stillwater. Mr. Nelson was one of the prominent lumbermen and citizens of Minnesota. His death occurred at Stillwater last year.
