OTTAWA – Herman H. Schroeder, 69, of Ottawa died 12:44 am Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 10, 1941 in Leipsic to the late Frank and Mary (Hermiller) Schroeder. On July 10, 1965, he married Rose Schumaker and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 4 children: Kim (Dan) Lehman of Ottawa, Linda (Gary) Ricker of Glandorf, Kevin (Heather) Schroeder of Findlay and Roger (Jodi) Schroeder of Leipsic; 9 grandchildren: Sara, Samantha, and Jena Ricker, Justin and Travis Lehman, Luke, Evan, Zoey and Nora Schroeder and 1 great-grandchild: Cayden Warnecke; 4 brothers: Ambrose Schroeder of Leipsic, Steve Schroeder of Ottawa, John (Cathy) Schroeder of Ottawa, August Schroeder of Ottawa; 2 sisters: Esther (Joe) Fuerst of Columbus Grove and Margaret Palte of Columbus Grove. He was preceded in death by a brother: Andrew Schroeder; 2 sisters: Evelyn McLaughlin and Ardella Kleman; and 6 half-brothers: Richard, Herbert, Sixtus, Linus, Everett and Nelmun Schroeder.
Herman retired from Weatherseal in Ottawa after 39 years. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Ottawa Eagles. He enjoyed being with his family, traveling and playing cards.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Josefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a K of C Rosary at 7:30 pm Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
