He served in the European and Southwest Pacific Theatres during WW II before his discharge in 1946. He married Marjorie Larson July 3, 1947. Family included daughters Janis Deetz, Yvonne Alfson and Wendy Gregory, sisters Lila Estenson and Jean Anderson, brothers Gordon and James Alfson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Annelle Alfson and brother-in-law Martin Estenson.
