PIONEER PASSED AWAY

Frederick Smallfoot

Frederick Smallfoot, one of the best known farmers of this county and residing near Dunbar passed away last night shortly after midnight, after an illness lasting over some time, after a residence in this county of more than fifty years, and all of years he has resided here he had lived on the same farm, three and a half miles north of Dunbar.

He was born in Germany, March 2, 1830, and came to this country and was married in Wisconsin sixty-two years ago with his wife, who survives him came to this county and located on the home place. He was a man of most happy disposition and not only fond of music of all kinds, was a good vocalist and sang his favorite songs up to a few days of his death. He was one of those men who looked upon the bright side of life and therefore every one was his friend. His death will be deeply mourned by all.

He is survived by his widow, two sons and three daughters. They are Edward and August Smallfoot and Mrs. George Schreiner, Mrs. R. Buchanan, of Lincoln and Mrs. Emma Heaffner, of Amana, and two sons and a daughter are dead.

He was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the remains will be interred at the cemetery at Otoe, but as yet the time of the funeral has not been decided upon.
