G. L. Carter, 49, of Winnfield, succumbed at 5:15 a.m. Friday, September 27, after a four month illness with a brain tumor.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. September 28 at the First Baptist Church with the pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomb, officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Tommy Stretch, J. W. Sanders, Jerry Harris, Rock Ray, Tom Brady, Leo Baker, and D. C. Allbritton.

An employee of Arkansas Fuel Oil Company for 18 years, Mr. Carter had been a resident of Winnfield for the past four years. His wife, Mrs. Maurice Carter, has been connected with a Winnfield hospital for the past nine years. Mr.
Carter was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Doghtery M. Fraternity, an oil company organization.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Edwin, Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. Mollie Carter, Altheimer, Ark.; four brothers and three sisters.
