Joseph Jackson UNDERWOOD was the son of James William Underwood and Drucilla Ann Thompson of Alabama. After his mother, Drucilla died in Alabama, Joseph's father remarried Ann E. "Annie" Fox Bass (she had been married to J.M. Bass and had one child Edward Bass at the time of her marriage to J.W. Underwood). They moved to Lincoln County, OK and Joseph was raised by his father and stepmother. He married Rosa May NEELY October 12, 1907 and they moved to Highland, CA where they raised their two children. Rosa died March 10, 1957 in San Bernardino and is buried beside her husband at Montecito Cemetery in Loma Linda, CA (San Bernardino County).
