Jiggs graduated from high school in Wardville. He joined the United States Navy on July 23, 1946, and was honorably discharged June 14, 1950. He served his country after World War II by helping in the reconstruction while being stationed in Pearl Harbor, Guam and Midway. He came out of the Seabees as an electrician lineman. After returning home, he met and married Mary Christine Smith and they were married June 14, 1952, in Fort Smith, Ark. He and his wife loved fishing in the pond behind the house. She preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 1994. He hauled cattle for a living after getting home from the service. He then worked for Public Service of Oklahoma and then the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot and then returned to ranching. He enjoyed working with cattle, riding horses and always had a vehicle for trade.
