Merlin was born in Vernal, Utah on October 11, 1928, to Curtis and Bernice Evans Horrocks. He married Joyce James on May 28, 1949. They were married 59 years, and were the proud parents of four sons.
Merlin worked for Kennecott Railroad for 30+ years, as well as the W.P. and Rio Grande. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Merchant Marines, and later for the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an Honorary Captain of the Confederate Airforce.
He loved flying, fishing, his grandchildren, and Geraldine.
He is survived by his children, Lex (Sherilyn), Brent, Kevin (Cathy) and Terry White; sister, Reva (Mory); 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Kirk; three sisters, Thora, Rose and Arlene.
Special thanks to his faithful companion in travel, Gloria; the staff of Strawberry Campground, the Sheriff Department and Medical Crew. And a very special thanks to the Air Med who took him flying one last time.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South.
