Clarissa (Chapman) Armstrong was the wife of Rev. Dr. Richard Armstrong. They were married Bridgeport, Connecticut September 25, 1831. Rev. Dr. Armstrong died September 23, 1860. They were among the first American missionaries to the Sandwich Islands and lived in the Hawaiian Islands for 48 years.

Fifth Company Of American Missionaries -
They sailed on the whaleship Averick, from New Bedford, November 26, 1831 and arrived at Honolulu, May 17, 1832. It took them 172 days.
