In June 1915 Private Aitchison was severely wounded in battle while serving in France; he died of his wounds in the Ramsgate Hospital in Kent, England.

A butcher by trade, he enlisted in the CEF on 22 Sept 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec, Canada.

Son of William and Elizabeth Aitchison of Wingham, Ontario, Canada.

Two of his brothers also served. One of his brothers, Private Joseph Wallace AITCHISON, died on 11 April 1917 and was laid to rest in the Bruay Communal Cemetery Extension in France.

Private David Laughlin Aitchison is commemorated on Page 3 of Canada's First World War Book of Remembrance.
