Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, on Monday, August 30th, 2001. Stanley Leon Carroll was born on February 16th, 1921 in Bois D'Arc, Missouri. He was reared and educated in his birth community. He graduated from high school and attended some college before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. Stanley and Harriette Lewis met and married in 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1959 the couple moved to Tulsa. Stanley worked in sales and represented many of the major concrete suppliers in Tulsa. He was affiliated with the Homebuilders Association and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. An avid sports fan, Stanley enjoyed watching whatever sport was playing on T.V. His hobbies included golf and bowling, both of which he held trophies in. When retirement freed up some time, Stanley took a job at Heritage Hills Pro Shop. He also enjoyed his trademark cigar, even while waterskiing! In the early 80's, Stanley purchased 30 acres of property in Claremore where he loved caring for his pecan trees and keeping an eye on the neighbors' cattle. He also maintained the old Indian Cemetery located on his property. He collected, wore and exchanged hats with his favorite grandson, Ryan. Devoted to him, Stanley took classes in signing so the two could better communicate. He treasured his beloved family. Strong in both body and character, Stanley's passing leaves his survivors with a legacy of dedication to family and a deep faith in God. He was a member of First Baptist Church. On Tuesday, August 24th, 2010, Stanley passed away at the Claremore Veterans Center where he had made his home in recent years. He was 89 years old. Those who survive include his daughter, Deborah Henry of Tulsa; his grandson Ryan Boss and wife, Jennifer, also of Tulsa; great grandchildren Jillian, Bryanna, Ava and Kaycee Boss; and special friend Be Newberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Harriette and his brother, Alvin.
